What comes next?

Well, I am finally done with Vol 1 of Sayonara Piano Sonata and Vol 2 of Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden. Hope you guys have enjoyed them.

I am beginning the start of my semester, which means I won't have much time to work on the translations as compared to the past few months. Translation speed will drop noticeably, to something like one chapter per week, maybe even slower. As such, I don't think it is a wise idea to work on 2 series at once.

Onii-ai vol 4 is still no where in sight, though it does not really matter to me, because it is just one of the many slapstick harem series out there. Till I've obtained the translations of vol 4, I'll either focus on Sayonara Piano Sonata, or Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden, because I don't really think I can do both at the same time, given my current schedule.

There's pretty much pros and cons for working on each of the 2 different series. As such, I'll be setting up a poll on the right. Vote on which series you prefer to be done next. While I will not base my decision entirely on the polls itself, it will definitely influence my decision. Also, feel free to voice out your opinions here.

Did the contents page so that you guys can take a look at what's to come, and make a slightly more informed decision.

And oh, I'll probably stop the polls on 27th January. There's Chinese New Year and all, so I'll be away and stuff. A good 2 weeks break for me.

Next, the reason for changing 'Iris' to 'Ilis' in Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden.

Kind of slow, but I just realized Kei Sazane had started a new LN series, titled <Imperfect Divine Arms Ilis>. Illustrations by Kasukabe Akira as well. And you can probably guess who 'Ilis' is referring to.

Pretty certain the series is set in the same universe as Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden and Tasogare-iro no Uta Tsukai. As for the timeline which it is set in, I am not too sure, but my guess is somewhere before the start of Eden.

As to why I know she's the same Ilis...... She's referred to as Divine Arms in vol 4 of Hyouketsu Kyoukai. Also, she looks pretty much the same in the Hyouketsu Kyoukai illustration, albeit not in color, and she's in her battle armor there.

My waifu in full color, and damn she's adorable. Breasts are slightly too large, since I am part of the DFC faction, but whatever. I can die happy now.

Ilis in full color, I'm looking forward to it. (=´∀`)人(´∀`=)

  2. She's hot! I hope she got a human body in Eden!

  3. I enjoyed Sayonara more, but I won't beg. I will only suggest that if you do Eden next then follow up with Sayonara after. They may have their difficulties but in my opinion you've done a great job so far, and I truly appreciate your TL's of these LN's. Good luck with school.

  4. Eden for sure.

Also Nek0 can have the pendant form, i'll take this mecha-human girl :>

  5. I haven't red Eden, will try to do it before the poll closes but at this point I would say Piano no Sonata.

  7. I'm going to say Piano over Eden just cause I've read a lot of series similar to Eden already over on baka tsuki (which actually happens to be how I found this site) but I've found less like piano. Variety is the spice of life and all that so I say go Piano, but of course I don't actually do any work so it is your choice, as always.

  8. 1-eden,without question
2-oni-ai(when you'll have it),i know it's no original but i don't mind to read another two volume(to see the editor in vol.4 and the fiancee in vol.5)
3-as for piano... you don't like big breast,i "don't like" trap(you told us there will one in vol.3).to each one its taste.
    Still,i'll enjoy vol.2.

    1. Character illustrations or their body figures won't really affect my ratings of a story. Just saying.

  9. I would say Eden, not on series quality or preference or anything (I actually prefer Piano, tbh) but because Piano ended on a better dramatic point while nothing much happened in Eden and it ended on a 'meh' note.

Piano as is already has a draw in its writing, so I can look forward to it regardless of time, but something more interesting needs to happen in Eden to keep interest going, if you get what I mean.

That said, holding off voting until the last day so I can decide between preference and balance.

  10. Eden! And i'm trying to make B-T link to your website, displaying the series to help boost awareness to these series. Convince them with me :]

    2. Plenty actually... Just from the main list of baka-tsuki Campione ; Hidan no Aria*a bit of hidden power type tho* ; Legend of the legendary heroes ; Maoyuu ; et cetera... And that's just from baka-tsuki main list and not counting teaser projects or from other series from other sites > ____ >

      P.S. I'm a different anon

    3. I am the that anon, so for a quick list I'll say Campione, Hiden no Aria, Legend of the legendary heroes, Chrome shell Regios,Kaze no Stigmata, and Sword Art Online are the ones I see right off the bat on the main list. All these series essentially feature a really powerful protagonist engages in lots of fights featuring some sort of supernatural twist. And of course those are only on the main list. . .

  11. Too... tough... choice...

Well, Keito got 2 weeks to think about it. I mean, meditate over this dilema.

Must start now. Once done will post conclusions.

  12. I choose Eden.. cause I haven't found the time to pick up Piano ; _ ;

  13. Wait, so Ilis turns into a girl?!

Anyways, I like both series, but I prefer if you translate Hyouketsu Kyuokai no Eden. I just like the fantasy genre better.

    ReplyDelete
  14. There aren't much anime/manga/LN about music out there and when you started translating it, i thought you were doing the work of god so no doubt i choose piano.

  15. If the chinese Onii-Ai Volumen 4 appears someday... I really would like that that novel were the priority :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. prefer Eden, since it's starting to get more interesting. Up to Volume 4 maybe before going to Volume 2 and 3 of Piano? (curiosity rises over 9000!) :3

I'm curious as to Ilis original color eyes. Is it red or blue one? (in volume 4 it's blue from the images teaser, and now it's red in the image above)
I'm guessing that it's both, because when in pendant form, in Volume 1 you can see that it's a red-colored, while in Volume 2 it's blue-colored. interchangeable mode?

    1. The girl in the cover of vol 4 is not Ilis.

Ilis in crystal machine mode will change to red when she's assisting Sheltis in battle, as shown in vol 1.

    2. Same here Its sooo interesting and epic!!

    3. oh, it's not the same person? ah, my mistake...that's explain the different in bust size then ^_^

I thought it was her since, they look similar (the scene with Ilis Battle Maiden Mode?)

thanks for the enlightenment, and awesome job you done here!

  18. I really like Sayonara Piano Sonata and would love it if you continued. I'm dying to know what happens next D:

  19. Piano~~!!! =P
Really liked that author's style, hope you can continue to translate, dont really mind if u take eden first or not.

    ReplyDelete
  20. eden, and i hope you won't drop oni-ai(even if we must wait for month).

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd go for piano, mainly because its the reason i found this site(yeah, just recently) and well, i really liked it, im dying to see what happens

    ReplyDelete
  22. With all due respect, of all series you are doing, Onii-ai is what I'm looking for the most. Volume 3 ended in such a cliffhanger. I even consider buying a Japanese copy when I visited Japan despite my lack of skill in the language but it was out of stock, shame (I searched in Akihabara's Toranoa).

But if I have to choose between these two series, then I think I would go for Eden. Nothing against Piano though, I would still be as glad no matter which series you pick.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, I'm actually looking forward to Onii-ai too @_@.

  24. you guys ever thought of doing Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei? thats assuming thers a chinese translation of the light novel of course

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Do you really think I have time for that, considering that you are posting in a thread that asks people to vote for the title they want to read first?

I've read vol 1, but I have my hands too full to do anything else. And if anything, I remember Baka Tsuki has it. I won't take titles that are already taken.

      Delete
    2. About Mahouka, larethian already pick up that series. In Bakatsuki you can find it in the teasers project section. I think it could take a long time in get full translated because lare is working in the translation of the manga series as well. Although it has 4 volumes, it seems pretty interesting with only one read.

  26. everyone seem to want eden AND piano AND oni-ai;don't mind if it take you a year or more(a bluff,i'm looking twice a day for update)so take your time and, please,do the three,at your own pace,no matter how much time it take.
thank you for everything you did so far and if you need donation, don't hesitate to ask:i'll be glad to contribute(don't know other way to sincerly express my gratitude).

    ReplyDelete
  27. My vote goes for Piano, because I haven't read Eden yet (I think I miss it somewhat).

Well, I'm starting college too, so I understand how difficult could be working in more than one project. So, if you continue working in Eden, I will read it (I really don't mind because I like your projects).

    Good luck with your studies!

  28. Piano, because it's unique. I've read many series similar to Eden and i'm looking for something else, like Piano...

    ReplyDelete
  29. it's too hard to decide since both series are good so my vote went to the first one i read xD
and... you can't die yet!! one pic isn't enough!!//shot

  30. haven't read both piano nor eden. but piano seems to appeal more to me. one piano vote from me. and it's good enough that you're translating something with college and all. you have my thanks and...good job!

  31. Well, It's onii-ai i've been waiting for...
so onii-ai since i hadn't read Eden and Piano...
    I'll read Eden next..so I'll vote 2nd for Eden
maybe I'm convinced with the cover photo
I've been planning to read them both...
In future...maybe summer since reading this takes time...

I had to complete my anime collection first...
Need to play my compiled Visual Novels there..
I don't have problem studying since I don't really care about it for now...

    ReplyDelete
  32. eden all the way but please do onii-ai as well
dont care about piano as much

  33. can you start translation project for hidan no aria? BT shut it down just when I got some trad-chinese version

    1. There's a reason why BT shuts it down u know? It's now licensed by a company, which means the copyright belongs to them.
