Why the new Aokana anime betrays all expectations

  So um...hi, it's D.M...uh...I'm one of the (ex?)editors on this blog that sometimes posts random stuff.

  First off, I'd like to say that I'm sorry for the blog being inactive recently, and more importantly that I'm making garbage posts when many of you are probably excitedly waiting for new releases. For those that rushed over because you got an email notification saying that there's a new post and was hoping for a new release, you can probably stop reading right here because I'm wasting your time.

  ...however, I have a very important topic to discuss regarding the visual novel and recently released anime adaptation 「蒼の彼方のフォーリズム」(Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm) and why the director of the anime completely missed the point of the story.

  For anyone who have played Aokana, is currently watching the anime, or have the time to let me humor you, please read on...keep in mind that there will be minor spoilers.

**Update 01/25/16**

I just finished watching episode 3, and it's apparent that they'll never explain the rules of FC. For those who watched episode 3 without playing the VN, it's probably confusing as hell. Thus I make a proposal; should I make another post to explain what the rules are so that people can make sense of it?

I'm hesitant on making another shit-post because this isn't an anime blog, but if there's interest in such a post, I'd think about taking the time to write one as I really feel it's necessary. For those interested, please leave a comment saying so.

Where We Stand

I've been away from the Seirei Gensouki translation for longer than I originally planned, and for various reasons. If you've been paying any attention at all to the chat box in the sidebar, you would know that I was forced to postpone further work until after getting a new computer and car since my old ones either broke down or have too many issues.

Currently, Rio was in a jail cell in the royal castle.

After finding Kristina and Flora, the guards quickly took them into custody.

Then for some reason, Rio alone was arrested and thrown into a jail cell, dumbfounded.

It was then that Rio found out Kristina and Flora were the country’s princesses.

[Seirei Gensouki] Episode 3 - Kidnapping

Important note before reading. The word I had previously translated as "mana" has now been changed to "magic power" because of an explanation that occurs later on in the story. Chapter 2 has been edited appropriately.

Overlap Summer 2015 Project

First of all, apologies to those that have been waiting for me to release the next chapter of Seirei Gensouki. Lots of stuff has been preventing me from working on it such as hardware failure lasting all the way through the rest of my winter break and currently midterms (which I'm procrastinating from studying for just writting this post >_>).

Anywho, the point of this post is about the Summer 2015 Project by Overlap that was announced a couple days ago. For those that don't know about it, here's a link for you if you read Japanese. If you can't, well the gist of it is that a whole slew of webnovels from Syosetsuka are being commercialized such as Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (it's project 2 in the link with sketches of Yue by TakayaKi) which is hosted on Japtem. I for one am very excited about this news because World Teacher is included among those entries.

Seirei Gensouki Progress Report

As some of you may have already noticed, my translations of the first two chapters of Seirei Gensouki have now been released and the content page has been made. As I stated before in my previous announcement post, I'll have zgmfx09a add it to the project page and sidebar the next chance I get (I haven't seen him at all lately due to our schedules). Thanks goes to Kiydon for helping me with a few of the lines that were troubling me, in particular a certain section in Episode 2.

Story Synopsis


Amakawa Haruto, a young man who died before reuniting with his childhood friend who disappeared five years ago. Rio, a boy living in the slums who wants revenge for his mother who was killed when he was five years old.
Earth and another world. Two people who have completely different backgrounds and values, but for some reason, the memories and personality of Haruto who should've died resurrected in Rio's body.
As the two are confused over their memories and personalities fusing together, Rio (Haruto) decide to live in this new world.
For some reason, along with Haruto's memories, Rio awakened an unknown "special power," and it seems that if used well, he can live a better life than he does now.
But before that, Rio encountered the princess kidnapping incident of the Bertram Kingdom he lives in.
Saving the princesses, Rio was accepted into the state managed Royal Academy. Being an orphan in a school for nobles, it was an extremely destestable place to him.

New Project - Seirei Gensouki ~Konna Sekai de Deaeta Kimi ni~

As the title says, I've finally decided on what webnovel I'll be working on. Seirei Gensouki ~Konna Sekai de Deaeta Kimi ni~ (Mythical Spirit Chronicle ~On this world where I met you~). I'll have zgmfx09a add it to the project list along with all the required pages and links the next chance I get. Someone else has actually already started translating this webnovel on their own blog, but I've asked for and recieved his permission to translate this series on my own from the beginning again.

With that said, unfortunately, I won't be able to do a New Years release since it took me much longer than I expected to decide what webnovel to translate (there were a lot of factors to keep in mind such as the current status of the novel, translation difficulty, etc.). However, I've already finished translating the first chapter and it is now in the editting phase. I'll try to get that done as well as finish more chapters in time for a release tomorrow, but if I am unable to do a release tomorrow, then releases will have to wait an additional 3-4 days as I'm usually busy on the weekend no matter what time of year.

Vol 2 is out, and Nardack scores yet again. If I am to make a guess, Mirai's probably reading Shinonome's book (which she did in vol 1).

The translator, Kiydon, is dead. He's far too busy for his own good, but well, that's that. Guess some of you were expecting this, but for those who were holding on, sorry to disappoint. Hope somebody else picks it up, but until then, we'll all have to wait. -_-
